Paaaaarteeeee!!!

It's been a whole year! Four seasons, fifty two weeks, three hundred and sixty-five days. I'm ONE YEAR OLD! Wow!

Mom and dad are a little upset because I'll be 40 in only 39 years, but I've managed to calm them down with a killer smile, an elegant red dress and the party that all of Paris has been talking about since the sun was last out (and that was a long time ago). Yes, the social event of the season, my first birthday!!!

Despite having to work today, mom made a chocolate cake with a caloric content illegal in most democratic countries. Both mom and dad decorated the living room and 88 rue Lecourbe became a hopping party pad.

First to arrive were my Godfather and the Princess of Piacenza, Glenda. Soon followed my soul mate Tess with her handlers Edith, Lorin and granddad Mo. Neighbors Tess and Emma came escorted by Casey and Jacques and soon Antoine completed the scene. I was showered with beautiful gifts that will fill my dreams tonight.

I'm a lucky Princess to have such wonderful friends who care so much about my birthday. I forgot all about my aging crisis and felt young again, without a care in the world.

It's late now and my first birthday is drawing to a close. I'm excited and up a little late but what a day! Why don't you see a few highlights here: ONE!

Speaking my mind

During a conversation with my friend Mario, speech writer to the stars, I was asked about a couple of controversial speeches I've made in the past. I'm not one to hold back my words when the future of our planet and its population is on the line. And yes, last April, sporting the Mohawk hairstyle that caused such an uproar, I made these speeches. I am happy to share them with you once again. Of course, if you don't agree with what I am saying here, you are free to comment. I am an open-minded little googster.

A Sunday Stroll in the Bois with Mimi

Ah, the leisurely pleasures of a sunny Sunday in Paris. Mimi, my granny from Peru, came to play with me for a week. Okay, she also said hi to my mom and dad during her stay but I know that she really came to see me.

I noticed that the older folks were letting the big city hustle and bustle get to them, so I ordered an afternoon in the Bois de Boulogne. It also was a great opportunity to show off my cool new footwear and to break them in at the same time.

I love Paris in the fall. Check out the rest of the pictures here: Cole knew what he was talking about...

The sun also rises

Well, well. There has been a conspicuous absence of sun during my short life. Although I know my daddy wouldn't put me on - I haven't seen much proof of how wonderful summer can be in this country (nor have my beloved abuelita and tío for that matter).

But finally, last weekend, and again yesterday, I saw for myself just what type of magic Mr. Sun can work when presented with the unparalleled canvas of Paris!

Last Saturday Mom and Dad couldn't wait to step outdoors! We walked from our humble home on rue Lecourbe all the way to the Hôtel de Ville! After taking in a bit of Rugby on the place we ran into my beloved Godfather and his new heart throb (who always makes me smile).

I was a little upset that I asked for a margarita and only got a bottle of milk, but a few kisses later I forgave everyone and went on enjoying the day. I felt particularly special when a nice saxophonist on the Pont St. Louis dedicated a little tune to me. Ah it's wonderful to be a Parisian Princess!

Getting reacquainted with darling Paree

I think Galileo had it all wrong - the universe spins around Paris. And here we are back in the center. We didn't wander too far this summer, but I'll tell you about my first long vacation in another post. This blog will follow the cinema's recent trend of confusing artsy anachronism and start with my return.

Ahhh Paris! After a very wet and gray summer, Mom and dad had to return home last Tuesday to prepare for the French New Year - la rentrée. I have a new nanny that they wanted me to get to know gradually and of course work, that sad curse, beckoned. Hélas, I had to kiss my beloved abuelita and uncle farewell and leave the bucolic refuge that I'll write about sometime soon.

I had been away over a month - that's a full eighth of my life! So mom and dad had a weekend of Parisian activities planned to reacquaint me with this wonderful town. The program included my first picnic in the Jardin du Luxembourg, walks through the Palais Royal gardens with my wonderful godfather, and many coffees on many terraces. Ahhh - I am a lucky princess, despite the weather.

Googster goes international

Ahhh Roma! - E una bámbola! La farfallina! Che carina!

So many firsts! First flight, first trip outside the country, first canonization, first limoncello (no, not really). June started out in style for the Googster aboard an Alitalia (it was supposed to be Air France!) flight to the eternal city. After a sound sleep on her proud father's lap, the Princess and her minders all collapsed in their hotel room near St. Peter's.

The Googster (now baptized 'la Gúgstera' and later 'la Farfallina') had come to meet her tía Dalila and Cousins Rinette, Bernardo, Fabianna and Flavia, witness the Canonization of the Passionist Blessed Charles of Mount Argus, and to eat a little veal and pasta of course - all washed down with a fine Chianti.

Many adventures were had with mom and dad, the family, and the jolly crowd from St. Joe's. The Princess of Paris seduced the locals, attention much appreciated. La Farfallina navigated the City like a true Roman, discovering small back alleys and restaurants forgotten since the days of togas and gladiators.

First feed

The menu card read: mashed steamed carrots washed down with formula, a fine 2007 vintage Calisma 1. Things started well, with a desperate Inès screaming for food. The surprise was to come. Before the usual milk a fine amuse bouche of carrot puré, mmm!

Of course, being a fine lady, Inès elegantly ate no more than befits someone of her station. After three of four spoonfuls she moved on to the milk. A fine dining experience for the Princess of Paris.

Getting a little help from Lorin

Evening folks, thanks to my good friend Lorn Kalisky I now have this unique blog to share with friends and family. So kick back, pour yourself a drink and prepare yourself to be put to sleep with the hair-raising adventures of three daredevils in France's capital of glamor; that kingdom of grungy elegance; home to cads, heroes, and starlets, the mecca of mindlessness, the 15th arrondissement of Paris.

To launch this new exposé of excitement, we threw a pyjama party for the Princess of Paris and her maiden friend, the Comtesse of the 11th. Preliminary events included a picnic under the shadows of the Eiffel Tower. A glimpse into this celebration can be found here: opening night

It's late and the the Princess of Paris likes breakefast early, so good night to all.
