Kickin' it it Parizzle in February

My tan from Peru has faded and although the sun is shining every day, it doesn't seem to have the same effect in Paris in February. But life is mellow in the winter. It's warm inside our pad and I can kick back with a few magazines and a yogurt. Outside is nice, but my parents overdo the bundling up thing. I can't move and it takes about half an hour to undress me when we get back to the apartment. I like going out but sometimes I just prefer to stay home and rip up magazines.

By the way, if you are reading this how about leaving a comment? I just want to know that there's someone out there alive!

Peru, con "P" de patria!

After a short flight from Amsterdam we landed in Lima. My mimi and Julio were there to pick us up and thoroughly spoil is for a full two weeks! Now I'm a little adverse to heat but I had the time of my life.

Mami had often told me about the place where she grew up. She told me about the mountains filled with llamas, the dessert cliffs that drop to the sea, the warm southern summer and hustle and bustle of Lima. But the part that really stuck in my mind was the food!

Ceviche de corvina, pisco sours, chita al ajo, lenguado a la chorrillana, tejas, chicha morada, Inca cola (the true soft drink of the Incas), chupe de camarones, algarrobina, cerveza Cusqueña, crema de lucuma. I didn't actually taste all of that but I trust my daddy when he tells me that it's all great. What I did try for the first time was ice cream, lucuma ice cream, and I was instantly convinced of the goodness of this earth!

We did so much. The big event was the move. My mom's childhood home will be torn down to make way for an tower of condominiums! This meant a sending stuff back home to France. I imported a nice virus from France which I generously shared with everyone. This didn't stop us from shopping, eating, ssupervising the move and, of course, hitting Wong very day, though I missed my dear friend Luma's birthday because mommy and daddy were sick. But you can check out pictures of the burial of her umbilical cord here: xxxxx.

We saw most of mommy's dearest friends over our stay and my uncle Francisco even flew down from Venezuela to see me!

The night before our sad departure my aunt Tani, Uncle Carlos and cousins Esteban and Ania invited us and a few close friends to their beach house. I had to stay in the shade but that didn't stop me from showing off my new bathing suit and having a great time!

Holidays at the Chetif Moulin

My second Christmas certainly was better than my first! Last year, I spent my time just lying around drinking milk. But this year I discovered the real spirit of Christmas, the best thing that the holidays bring, or that Santa brings. And we all know what that is: WRAPPING PAPER!

Lots of funny boxes wrapped in lovely, crunchy, easy to tear, colorful paper. What a delight! I love Chritmas. We also sat around the fire watching the odd movie, drinking a little wine, eating chocolates and I even played piano! Abuelita made her delicious pernil de puerco with yuca and all the trimmings. The pond in front of the house was frozen solid but the house was warm and cozy.

New years was not the ususal let down as my soul mate Tess came with her entourage in tow. What a great way to kick off 2008! Check out all the pictures here: Santa came to Humbligny
